Rotimi Amechi to turn the state round and particularly assist to ease movement of teams and spectators in the city.Although Iyaye declined to disclose the cost of the project, he said: ``It is going to be first of its kind in the country.''He added that the project was part of facilities being planned to enhance the state's chances of hosting the festival. The commissioner said that about 300 new roads were reconstructed in Port Harcourt in the last one year as part of measures to ease traffic flow in the oil city.``We have phased out use of commercial motorcycles and reintroduced taxis and buses within the state capital,'' he said. Iyaye said the plan was to dedicate some roads as festival routes just as it was done in such cities as Beijing that hosted the last Olympic Games.He expressed optimism that about eight months would be sufficient for Rivers to complete all facilities. ``I assure you that there will not be fire-brigade approach in getting Port Harcourt ready to stage the games. We shall start work as soon as we are granted the hosting rights.``Six to eight months is enough for us to conclude all preparations. We have the funds to execute the project in spite of global economic recession.``Unlike other states, we assisted the Ogun State Government with N100 million to host the 15th edition of the NSF in 2006,'' he said. The commissioner underscored the need to ensure regional spread in hosting the NSF, emphasising: ``We deserve the right, more so that we have all it takes to do so.''
